  • Macquarie University

    Macquarie University is a public research university based in Sydney, in the suburb of Macquarie Park. Founded in 1964 by the New South Wales Government, it was the third university to be established in the metropolitan area of Sydney.

    The university's five faculties, the Macquarie University Hospital and the Macquarie Graduate School of Management are located on the university's main campus in suburban Sydney. The Macquarie City Campus is located in the Sydney central business district.

    Seven West Media Limited is an ASX-listed media company and is Australia's largest diversified media business, formed by the sale of Seven Media Group to West Australian Newspapers Holdings Limited (WAN). It has a leading presence in broadcast television, radio, newspaper publishing, magazine publishing and online.

    Seven Group Holdings Ltd (SGH), a company controlled by Australian Capital Equity, is Seven West Media's largest shareholder with 33.2% of Seven West Media shares and $250m Seven West Media Convertible Preference Shares (CPS).

    Seven West Media owns Australia's largest commercial television network (by audience and advertising market share), the Seven Network; and The West Australian, the monopoly daily newspaper in Western Australia. It also owns the second largest publisher of magazines in Australia, Pacific Magazines, and 21 Western Australian regional newspapers, nine regional radio licences, a specialist publishing business and WAN’s digital division.

    Seven West Media is also creating a significant presence in online and new communications technologies, such as through its 50% interest in Yahoo!7, with global and local content across online, mobile and IPTV. On 21 February 2011, Seven Media Group announced its intention to merge with West Australian Newspapers Holdings Limited (WAN). WAN purchased Seven Media Group from Seven Group Holdings and partner Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, and announced the new company would be known as "Seven West Media".

    On 11 April 2011, Seven West Media was created through the acquisition of Seven Media Group by West Australian Newspapers Holdings Limited (WAN) as approved by WAN shareholders. On 21 May 2013, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts sold its remaining 12% stake in Seven West Media.

    Industry Partner 

    The Media Federation of Australia (MFA) is the peak body representing media communication companies.

    The MFA is a non-for-profit organisation established in 1997 with a current membership base that represents around 72% of all media billings placed by Media Agencies in Australia.

    The MFA’s vision is to encourage operational excellence in the field of media communication connections and to define and develop best practice standards to support its member and the role it plays in servicing its clients.

    Core objectives of the MFA include the following To promote, develop and defend the rights and interests of members in conducting the business of media communication practitioners. To promote understanding of the role of media communication practitioners. To establish industry standards of performance, ethics and accountability. To encourage and promote the industry to attract and retain quality personnel To review, encourage and promote consumer and media research information relevant to the needs of the industry. Encourage and maintain effective communication and collaboration with other key industry bodies on matters of relevance

    The MFA recruits over 90 individual volunteers to sit on one our nine internal committees and 20 external committees. This level of enthusiasm is demonstration of the passion and committment from the agencies to ensure the continual growth and improvement for the industry at large. Details on these committee and the representations are listed in this section.

    The Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA) safeguards the rights of its members to commercial free speech and protects consumers by ensuring advertising and marketing communications are conducted responsibly.

    The AANA is the peak national body championing the interests of Australia’s top advertisers.

    For over 85 years the AANA has represented Australia’s largest and well-known brands across FMCG, automotive, finance and insurance, travel, health and beauty, media and communications. The AANA works to protect the interests of these businesses who contribute to an estimated advertising spend of more than $14 billion a year. On behalf of our members the AANA’s mandate is to maintain and evolve the advertising codes which underpin the system of self-regulation in Australia.

    The AANA, together with the Advertising Standards Bureau, represent two halves of Australia’s gold standard system of self-regulation. Complaints under our Codes are adjudicated by the independent Advertising Standards Board.
